After Cyclone Nargis struck the Irrawaddy Delta on the southwest coast of Myanmar in 2008, Ashley Jonathan Clements, a photographer/aid worker from New Zealand had the opportunity to document the work of World Vision delivering emergency supplies to isolated families. The team rode in on a helo chartered by the World Food Programme.

This reveals not only what an aid worker sees on the ground, but also why we chose the helo as the mascot for our magazine. Here's what Ash saw...

Buddhist monks barefoot in the rain...

Flooded rice paddies...

Two helos land safe...

Chopper blades cut the wind...

Need a hand with that?

Why sit on the wet grass when one can squat?

Final checks before taking off...

Kids in the frame of a building ripped up in the storm...

Nargis demolished this church on the delta...

Thanks Ash!
